5 Tips for Spring Cleaning and Caring for Your Nature Stone Floor

Nature Stone is known not only for the beauty that it offers, but for the durability. After a long winter season, you may want to give your floor a cleaning to get it ready for warmer weather. Here are our tips for not only getting your stone and epoxy floor clean, but to keep it looking great for years to come. Consider these tips:

1.  Know that Nature Stone is durable. One of the best things about a Nature Stone floor is that it is durable. No matter where you have had it installed – whether in a basement, garage, laundry room, sun room or even outdoors – you can be sure that your epoxy stone floor is one of the most durable flooring surfaces that is available on the market.

2.  Prevent damage to your flooring with a few simple tips. If you love your new Nature Stone floor, then you want to take care of it. Once you have had it installed, you will want to ensure that it doesn’t get damaged. The best way to prevent damage is to avoid scraping or dragging large, heavy objects across your stone and epoxy floor. The best way to move large objects, such as furniture, across the floor is by lifting it carefully and then setting it down in a new position. Dragging heavy items across the floor may loosen small stone particles.

3.  Give your floor the benefit of a spring cleaning. Nature Stone is an easy-care material, one that you will be able to clean thoroughly in just minutes. For indoor applications, such as kitchens, laundry rooms, basements and hallways, you can simply sweep or vacuum your floor and then follow up with a mild cleaning solution. For garages, we recommend sweeping up any loose debris or cinders from the winter, running a vacuum over the surface and then hosing it out. After this three-step process, you can simply hose it out. Outdoor surfaces, such as pool decks and hot tub surrounds can be swept and then hosed off.

4.  Protect the edges. Protecting the edges of your Nature Stone floor is a wise decision as that can be the most vulnerable part of the flooring, as it would be with any flooring material. Make sure that any flooring products that touch the edge of a stone and epoxy floor do so fully so there is no gap. Also, be careful when moving heavy items from one area of the flooring to another to prevent small cracks.

5.  Flood care is easy. Spring is a prime time for flood issues in many areas of the country. If your basement does flood, you don’t need to worry about your Nature Stone floor. Simply dry the floor off, remove any debris and mop it with a mild floor cleaner. Because the floor has hydrostatic port technology and is mold and mildew resistance, you don’t have to worry about moisture becoming a problem.
